Pirate’s Channel

The Pirate’s Channel is a waterway that connects Bacalar Lagoon with the Hondo River and, eventually, with the sea. This place, full of history and adventures, was once used by pirates to access the lagoon, which gives the channel its name. Today, it is a popular destination for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. Its crystal-clear waters and lush surrounding vegetation offer a perfect setting to explore and enjoy the rich history and natural beauty of Bacalar.

This site is one of the places we visit during our sailing and boat tours.
